Scam or spoof emails that appear to come from Banks are after your bank details and your money. This article offers some tips for spotting them and email addresses to report them to.
Spotting The Scam
The culprits of these scams want to find out your banking details and they attempt to do this by 'dressing up' an email making it look as if it is from your bank. Some of these are poorly designed and easy to spot but others are good and they are getting better so be careful.
If you read through the email they tend to include info along the lines of:
"Security Notice....we have temporarily restricted your online access. To regain access to your online banking Please click here and fill out your details......"
If you follow this instruction you will be giving away your internet banking details to criminals. Your bank will NEVER send you emails like this. As soon as you read this alarm bells should go off, you should report the email to the relevant details below and the delete it.
