Dearne Valley Playhouse went through a major refurbishment with the help of lottery funding. We were called in to film the renovations over a period of time and take interviews from the committee members. We then edited this footage together along with historical film of the playhouse when it was first built into a 10 minute film for use on the opening ceremony presentation. Fortunately we included the first performances in the newly refurbished Playhouse to the end of the film before the presentation. We also had the pleasure of adding Brian Blessed (who was filmed at the Dearne Gala) to the edit at a later stage as he was born in the area. The film was the authored onto DVD for distribution amongst volunteers.
